Moselle Terraces
The steep slopes are an unmistakable feature of the Lower Moselle near Winningen. Here you will find steep, terraced vineyards. The fine wines can also be sampled at local wine festivals—in the beautiful village of Winningen, for example. Castles Along the Moselle

Alken
Thurant Castle
One of the oldest castles in the Moselle region can be found in Alken. Partly built on Roman foundations, Thurant Castle is easily recognisable from afar. From the top of the castle, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Moselle valley and its vineyards. On a tour, you can not only experience the double castle, but also learn about the ancient craft of winemaking.

Wierschem
Eltz Castle
If this sight looks somehow familiar, you are not mistaken. The pearl of the Moselle, Eltz Castle, adorned the reverse side of the 500 mark bill between 1961 and 1995. A stamp of Eltz Castle was also issued at the end of the 1970s. This is hardly surprising, as Eltz Castle is so magically situated in the countryside that you can't help but be amazed.

Cochem
Reichsburg Castle
The Reichsburg castle in Cochem is a real gem, situated high on the rock above Cochem and lovingly restored in the 19th century. Here you can experience all sorts of things from the age of chivalry. Knights' banquets, medieval customs and a very special atmosphere at Christmas time make a visit worthwhile.

Take the Train through the Moselle Valley
Trains run between Koblenz and Trier several times a day. Even if you travel from Luxembourg on the RE 11, you never have to change trains. You have certainly never experienced a more beautiful train journey than on the RB 81. If you miss your stop at the picturesque Moselle valley, simply get off at the next wine village, try a sip of Riesling and then take a relaxing ride back.

Koblenz is the start and end of the approx. 300 km-long Moselle cycling route that connects to Metz, France. The riverside route takes cyclists through the magnificent Riesling wine country, following the course of the river and all its bends through a wide variety of landscapes.

Löfer Rabenlay Trail
Who says you have to go to the mountains to go hiking? There are trails between the Moselle and Rhine that will make any hiker's heart beat faster. One tip, for example, is the Löfer Rabenlaypfad dream trail. This varied route not only offers shady forest sections and steep climbs, but also fantastic views of the Moselle Valley and some of its castles. The famous Moselsteig Trail is also a real treat. There is something for everyone here, so be sure to pack your hiking boots.
